Blog slacking

Sorry that I have been such a slacker on this blog. I tend to be on my Twitter more, so for everyone who has been faithful followers please follow me on Twitter.     @mommasbloglife

Prenatal testing for baby #2 yesterday. Everything looks great and baby is healthy. No sign of down syndrome and bloodwork was done for other abnormalities, we will know more later on those. We also found out what babys gender is but we are keeping that a secret for a little longer.

Right now, Viking tot and I are watching Super Wings and eating our bagels. Trying to practice our ABCs too.

If anyone has suggestions on ABCMouse for helping their little ones, please share them with me.

Multipurpose Cleaner Recipe

I made the leap yesterday and became a dóTERRA representative. It has taken me almost 2 years to actually commit to this but now that I have, I will not be turning back. If anyone is interested in learning more about oils, comment below.

I will be making some multipurpose cleaner today. It is really simple.

Multipurpose cleaner recipe:

10 drops Wild Orange
10 drops Lemon

Equal parts:

Mix everything in a glass spray bottle ( you can use plastic but oils will break down the plastic over time)
Shake before each use.

Life happened…

Holy Smokes! Life has been in full force speed lately. So here is a little update on life:
1. Viking tot is officially going to be a big brother come September.
2. 2016 is flying by super fast.
3. Pregnancy #2 is way different than with #1.
4. I am going to eat us out of house and home. *Sorry, not sorry*
5. The Marine has direct orders to redo two bedrooms now.
6. Viking tot is speeding up while momma is slowing down.

I have also started to get into twitter. Its a work in progress because so far I only have one follower.
Please follow me @mommasbloglife and I will follow you back.

Becoming A Product Reviewer

Lately, I have been considering on becoming a product reviewer for different companies.  Just letting you all know before I go from no reviews to a bunch of reviews.  It will also help you all who don’t like to search the internet for things, I hopefully will have what you are looking for.

I will be completely honest in my reviews because I truly dislike when peoples reviews are wishy washy and can’t take a true stand on how they feel about the product.

I have signed up with two different companies (so far today) to begin reviewing.

amzreviewtrader.com is the first one I have signed up with.  You can get the products for a discount or free.  All they ask of you is to review it once you get and use it.  This will be super easy to do.  I also get to keep the product I review.

tomoson.com is the other one.  I haven’t requested any products yet.

Houston Texans Mobile App

App Review:
Today I will be talking about the mobile app Houston Rewards. Do you love Houston Texans football? I know the Marine does. For this reason at first is why I got the app. Once using the app for a few days, I can say that I have become addicted to it.

The application is easy to use and addicting. I should explain that even if you do not really like the Houston Texans this app has perks for you.

Points are awarded for just thumbs up (like) or thumbs down (dislike) tweets and by reading articles about the team. Both ways get you 10 points each. Another way to earn points is by in app ads. *Don’t let that deter you, you are not required to purchase anything.* Points for checking out ads are either 20, 30, or 300 points.

Perks within the app are worth it. Daily prize giveaways are free to enter, only condition is that you have earned 5,000 points that day. *Super easy to do.*
Giveaways that cost points are not skimpy prizes either. One of the recent prizes was a fitbit.
Points can be used for gear or gift cards. Personally, I am saving up my points for gift cards. Next Christmas is going to be jolly!

The app since the last update has caused me to not use it as much. The update changed the whole way you earn points. I do believe that they have caught on to how easy it was to earn points and released the update to stop it. I do still use the app but not daily like I used to.
Trivia was included in the release, which I do enjoy. Trivia questions are all about the Houston Texans so it helps to have knowledge about the team.
Points are awarded differently now. You get points from downloading games and other apps, but you need to use the downloaded app for 3 days to get the points. I have found a game that I am earning my points with right now.
A perk with the points is that you are earning higher points for everything now.

Swagbucks App Review

I have been a part of Swagbucks for a few years now but recently I have gotten back into it. I downloaded the application onto my phone and have been using it daily.

I recommend this app to get gift cards but I will tell you that it takes a while to have enough swagbucks to get one. The app uses surverys to gain SBs, which are swagbucks. The phone app is convenient and easy to use.

The website has more options to earn them. Different ways to earn SBs are to take surveys, watch videos, search the web thru the app, buy from different places, download other apps and games, or to put in special codes.  The special codes are sometimes hard to follow. They become available and are timed, so you need to enter them quickly or they will expire.

The surveys aren’t available to everyone either. The companies are looking for specific demographics to fufill their quotas. So don’t get discouraged if you are eligible for them. When I first started, I barely got to participate in any of them. Which is also why I stopped trying. Now that I am older and have been able to take more surveys, I recommend it. I like it and will keep using this app. I will be trying to go online to visit the website more.

I am hoping to do an application review every week. Next Monday will be Lucktastic.

Recipe: One Pan Garlic Ranch Chicken & Veggies

I am always on Pinterest looking for new things to craft or cook. To be honest I pin so many things and forget about them. I am a chronic pinner!

Recently I had to find something for dinner and I was drawing a major blank. I decided that since I pin everything I would look on one of my boards. I came across one that I had all the ingredients for.
*We are between grocery trips, but I will save that for another post*

This recipe comes from damndelicious.net

Once I got everything out, I realized that I would be following the recipe but also not really be following it. I tend to always basically just roll with the flow of my kitchen. Having a toddler throws prep times out the window. I do believe that I did fairly well even with a toddler.

First I got all of the ingredients out. Also you will realize throughout my cooking process that I don’t really follow measurements.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. And place aluminum foil in your pan.

Sorry that some carrots have escaped the bag, I almost forgot to take a picture.

Take out as many carrots as you would like to cook. The number won’t affect cook times. I have chosen to only cook about two handfuls, the Marine won’t eat carrots so I don’t need them going to waste. The toddler is still skeptical about them too. Anyways, cut the ends off and halve them.

Next, take out a few potatoes. *I don’t like to have leftovers* I used red potatoes which tend to vary in size. Wash and dry them. Then cut into chunks, try to keep them around the same size to ensure they cook the same amount of time.

Step 3 is to prep your chicken. Rinse off your pieces. *I only defrosted 4 pieces because I have them prepackaged that way to ensure no food is wasted.* Take the brown sugar and coat the chicken. I used a lot of brown sugar and also tried to put under the skin. This will make the skin nice and crispy.

Now you will be putting everything in the pan to bake. First put the potatoes and carrots in, drizzle olive oil over and evenly coat them. Next, place the chicken on top. Finally sprinkle the ranch packet all over everything. *I did have to lift the chicken to get the ranch on the veggies underneath.* I do want to add that I sprinkled salt and minced garlic over everything at this time too.

Bake 25 minutes then broil 3 minutes.

*This was a success and turned out amazing*

Free stuff isnt always bad!

So about 3 months ago, I saw a yard sale where the remaining items were free.  (I believe the people were moving and just wanted their extra stuff gone.)  So I stopped because I was curious on what I would find.  I tend to find a lot of things that only need a little tlc to bring them back to looking fresh and new.  Anyways, I dug thru the boxes and most of the items were broken or I wasn’t interested in them.  Then I came across this picture frame, the glass wasn’t broken nor the frame. It still had its original price sticker. I grabbed it up because I know exactly what I can do with it. The only thing I could see as wrong was that the frame paint was all scratched up.

Sorry, this is the first picture I thought to take. Oops!
Sorry, this is the first picture I thought to take. Oops!

I am going to sand down the frame and repaint it.  I used a course piece of sandpaper because at the time that is all I could find.  Also it worked the best!

I did have to keep stopping to wipe the section I was working on down.  The blue was pretty but not for me, also it was scratched up.

The wood underneath is really nice.  The former blue paint left a minor tint to the wood but I just took a fine grain of sandpaper to it.  The fine grain too it right off.  I want to mention that I only did the very front.

**now since the Marine has seen it, I am not allowed to repaint it. He says the wood is too nice to cover up.** …..men 😉
